Military Kills Two Civilians and Burns Over 40 Homes in Pa Law Amid Ongoing Conflict

In the Pa Law Township of Tanintharyi Region, a military unit reportedly killed two civilians and set fire to over 40 homes while facing attacks from resistance forces. An official from Battalion No. 1 in the Myeik District indicated that there may have been significant casualties among the soldiers involved.

On September 9, a military unit of over 120 soldiers from the 285th Infantry Regiment launched an operation in the area, leading to a mutual confrontation with the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) and allied troops near Lei Oo Thone village.

Following the incident, the military conducted operations in Leppak and Kyaung Thaw villages on September 11, reportedly capturing around 45 civilians. On September 14, fighting resumed near Fort Yar, where resistance fighters from Battalion No. 1 engaged the military, resulting in mutual exchanges of gunfire.

On September 15, the military entered the 5 Mile village, destroying nine civilian homes without cause and arresting ten people. The next day, they attacked the Malar Oar and Shapone villages, prompting resistance from Battalion No. 1.

On September 18, the military entered the Shampone village group, where they faced resistance from the PDF (Pa Law) and allied revolutionary forces, leading to another day of intense fighting, with multiple casualties reported on the military side and one resistance fighter sustaining injuries.

In a recent operation, the military took over a school in Jengye village, capturing villagers and committing acts of arson and theft, including the destruction of homes and the confiscation of valuable items and vehicles.

On the night of September 18, military forces entered the Malar Oar village, which was reportedly without PDF presence, burning down 31 homes, while also destroying three homes in the Shapone village.

On the morning of September 19, as military forces entered Shapone village for territorial clearing, they reportedly killed a mentally disturbed villager and discovered the body of an elderly woman who had been burned to death in Malar Oar village.

Furthermore, it is reported that over 40 civilians from Shapone and Malar Oar villages were taken by the 285th Infantry Regiment.
