US Ambassador to Discuss Justice and Accountability for Myanmar Atrocities in Thailand

The U.S. government announced that its Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice, Beth Van Schaack, will visit Thailand to discuss justice and accountability for atrocities committed in Myanmar. From October 4 to 7, Ambassador Van Schaack is scheduled to meet with Thai government officials, civil society organizations, experts, and groups to address the pursuit of justice for victims of Myanmar’s brutal acts.

Ambassador Van Schaack’s mission emphasizes ensuring accountability for those responsible for the widespread violence in Myanmar and securing justice for survivors. Additionally, the U.S. continues to advocate for the safe and dignified return of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar, in alignment with their wishes, by working to create conditions conducive to such a return.
