In the Tanintharyi Region, it has been reported that during September, military attacks involving heavy artillery and drones resulted in the deaths of at least eight civilians and injuries to fifteen others. Local sources have confirmed that four incidents of civilian casualties occurred due to military bombardments across the Tanintharyi, Palaw, Dawei, and Bokpyin townships.
On September 3, in Bokpyin township, while a revolutionary group attacked the Laynyar Bridge security gate, heavy artillery was fired by the military’s 560th battalion, leading to the death of a young man in his teens and injuries to two others. The artillery reportedly struck an area near the Laynyar security gate, killing workers who were harvesting coconuts.
Additionally, on the same day in Tanintharyi, military forces fired heavy artillery, hitting a 40-year-old woman and a child from the Letawya village. The woman succumbed to her injuries on September 4 at the Myeik People’s Hospital.
On September 5, in the Htawe township, an artillery shell fired from the Pakari police station exploded near a phone shop, injuring four men inside, including a 20-year-old named Ko Aung Ko Phyo, who later died from severe injuries while receiving treatment.
Furthermore, on September 8, in the Khandi village conflict, an artillery shell exploded, killing a 25-year-old man and injuring a 10-year-old child from Taungkalaw village.
Local sources have reported that military forces targeted civilians with drone strikes and bombings, resulting in five separate incidents of civilian casualties in the Tanintharyi district throughout September. From September 4 onward, fierce clashes occurred in the Banlin and Banlaw villages, with the military continuing drone strikes on civilian homes.
As a result of military drone attacks on September 7, 8, and 9, it has been reported that two men in Banlin village, one man and two women in Banlaw village were injured.
On September 11, the military targeted a tea shop in the Kyuethinkone village, resulting in drone explosions that killed three women and one man. On September 23, due to an attack from the military’s 306th battalion, three women waiting at a morning market in the Nyaungpin Kone village also sustained injuries.
