According to Ko Mo Thaw, a local leader in the Sipar village of Hinthada Township, Sagaing Region, over a thousand residents from more than ten villages are currently in hiding due to a second military offensive by the junta. There is an urgent need for food, medicine, and clothing among the displaced populations.
Starting from the morning of October 27, the junta troops, with more than 150 personnel, began advancing into the northern areas of Hinthada Township. Reports indicate that on the same day, at around 5 p.m., the military launched airstrikes, dropping bombs twice on the villages of Letpan, Nat, and Myintha.
The continued military presence has forced residents from villages including Sipar, Ngapatyin, Patshu, Kyokone, Nat, Ywa Thar, Myintha, Setthakan, western Pephitaw, eastern Pephitaw, Talhlin, and Oofor to flee in search of safety. The urgent needs for food, medical supplies, and clothing have become critical.
Ko Mo Thaw stated, “The military is still stationed in Pephitaw village. Just yesterday, they dropped bombs twice using two aircraft. There are currently no ground battles taking place. However, the areas they bombed were considered safe prior to their attacks. Now, more than ten villages have been affected, with over 10,000 people displaced. The military is now advancing toward the northern part of Hinthada Township, not far from Sipar. The number of displaced individuals is increasing daily, leading to difficulties in accessing food. There is also a need for medical supplies. In Sipar, the village has nearly been burned to the ground, and we are in dire need of clothing and blankets.”
