In the ongoing conflict in Kyaukpin Village, Bago Region, Myanmar’s military forces reportedly detained and executed two civilians and are holding over 20 others as human shields, according to local sources. Hundreds of residents have fled from three villages, and emergency food supplies are urgently needed.

Fighting between the Myanmar military and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) escalated in the region since October 23, forcing villagers to evacuate as the military reportedly shelled civilian areas. As a result, people from five villages have sought refuge in safer areas.

The military allegedly entered U Yin Gyi village, where a 22-year-old man with a mental health condition was fatally shot. In Ywarchuang Village, a 17-year-old boy preparing to flee the conflict was also reportedly killed.

Along the route of their offensive, the military has reportedly detained approximately 20 civilians, using them as human shields, with their current status unknown.
