Yangon, November 2
Military forces have launched drone and heavy artillery strikes on villages in Mu and Ledo townships in Bago Region, leading to the deaths of two civilians, including a one-year-old child, according to the KNU (Karen National Union). On October 28, at around 6:50 a.m., the military fired nine heavy artillery shells, four of which exploded in the village of Yay Gone Aing, while the remaining five landed in Nok Law village. Civilians in the affected areas, including one named Saw Baw Lhet, were reported to have been injured.
On October 29, at around 10:00 a.m., military forces using drones carried out bombing raids on Tha Gale Lu village, followed by a second bombing of Ya Lay village at around 11:05 a.m. This attack damaged a local school. Villagers from Tha Gale Lu, Ya Lay, and Yay Gone Aing have fled their homes in fear of further attacks, seeking refuge elsewhere.
In another attack on October 29, at around 4:00 p.m., military forces in Ledo township launched drone strikes on Ywa Thaya village, causing damage to a house belonging to Ko Maung Zaw and killing one-year-old Maung Lin Khaing Phyo. Further drone attacks at 10:00 p.m. also hit Nan Zha village, destroying a Christian church there.
Similarly, in Kyundaw township in Karen State, military forces fired heavy artillery at villages, resulting in one civilian fatality and forcing more than 3,000 villagers to flee their homes in search of safety. On October 28, at around 1:45 p.m., artillery from the military hit the village of Yae Poo Gyi, destroying a civilian house. Another shelling on October 29, at around 8:15 p.m., hit the same village, causing further damage and the death of local livestock.
On October 30, at around 4:45 p.m., 24 more artillery shells were fired from the military base in A Myauk Kone, hitting various villages, including Yae Poo Gyi, Kawar Le, Noh Taw Main, and Win Pyae. The shelling resulted in casualties, including 47-year-old Maung Kyaw Hla, who was killed when struck by an artillery shell.
