In Pakokku Township, Magway Region, the military junta brutally executed a monk and four civilians, who had been detained as “terrorists,” according to reports from the local People’s Defense Force (PDF). The incident occurred after the military forces raided refugee homes in the northern part of Yankin Village, located in Dee Dote Quarter, at approximately 5:00 AM on October 28.
After entering and attacking the area, the junta troops set fire to seven refugee homes and one medical clinic. They captured a monk, disguised him in civilian clothes, and detained him along with 17 civilians. Additionally, the military forces looted personal belongings from civilians, loading them into civilian vehicles.
The military also captured and executed U Thein Aung, a civilian refugee, while U Than Sein was burned alive in his home. Due to the junta’s gunfire, four civilians were injured, one of whom is in critical condition.
The detained civilians include U Moe, Daw Thet Thida Htwe, U Moe Nyo, Ko Moe Di, Ko Ngacham, Ko Phoe Chaw, U Lhanyo, Ko Ngu, Ma Zin Ma U, U Than Myint, U Soe Win, U Maung Aye, U Tin Maung Swe, Ko Ye Lin Naing, and three unidentified individuals.
On October 31, at approximately 10:00 AM, the military forces moved the captured monk and civilians from their initial location in Dee Dote Quarter and took them to the southern part of Yankin Village. There, the monk, Daw Thet Thida Htwe, and Ko Ngacham were brutally executed.
The People’s Defense Force in Pakokku Township reported that the monk had been disguised in civilian clothing before being killed. Daw Thet Thida Htwe and Ko Ngacham were found dead with their clothes removed. The detained civilians were also subjected to severe physical abuse, being forced to stand under the hot sun from morning until evening, bound with ropes and tortured throughout the day.
