Military Junta Arrests Over 60 Civilians, Including Children, and Burns Homes in Kyo Pin Kawk

November 4, 2024 – In Kyo Pin Kawk Township, Bago Region, the military junta forcibly arrested over 60 civilians, including children from the “Singkhrai” orphanage, and set fire to homes in Aye Ywar Lay village, according to local sources. The attacks began on October 24, 2024, when military forces of approximately 120 personnel from Zigon Township, along with soldiers stationed in the nearby Bobin village, entered the area, launching assaults on local villages.

Following the attack, clashes ensued between the junta forces and the People’s Defense Force (PDF), resulting in ongoing battles until October 25, 2024. After suffering heavy losses, the military escalated their attacks with heavy artillery on several villages, including Thakhutpin, Intaingkone, Seitawoo, Singkhrai, Yonechoung, Aye Ywar Lay, and Uyin Gyi. As a result, over a thousand villagers fled their homes to escape the violence.

In Uyin Gyi village, the junta forces reportedly targeted civilians who had been trapped, subjecting them to torture and arresting eight individuals. Homes, shops, and valuable goods were looted and set on fire, with at least ten houses completely destroyed in Aye Ywar Lay village.

Furthermore, the junta forces entered Singkhrai village, arresting ten civilians, including thirteen children, and transported them to Bobin village in Zigon Township. On November 1, 2024, they also raided the orphanage, which serves children without parents, and arrested 29 more children before retreating from the area, leaving behind significant devastation.
