Junta Forces Arrest and Execute U Maung Min Sein in Pakokku, Civilians Fleeing Military Threats

November 6, 2024 – Military junta troops, who have set up positions in Pakokku District, arrested and executed U Maung Min Sein from Naukone village. Over 1,000 civilians from nine surrounding villages are reportedly fleeing from military violence. On the evening of November 5, around 4 PM, junta forces entered Naukone village and captured U Maung Min Sein, who was working in the fields. He was shot and killed by the soldiers in the village’s main road.

The junta’s military presence in the area began on October 21 and has since spread throughout the district. As of now, civilians from villages such as Shwe Tan, Sin Min, Kun, Naukone, Daun Sa, Kin Mun Kha, Phayar Kone, Sit Kan Tha Ya, and Mankyei Pin Poo are reportedly hiding to avoid the ongoing military violence.

One local resident described the brutal killing, saying, “The junta forces captured U Maung Min Sein from the road and shot him with a gun. His head was severely injured, and he died from the gunshot wounds to his chest. The junta forces are still in the area, with troops stationed in Kun and Sin Min villages. Many civilians from nine villages are currently displaced due to the violence.”
