Nearly 20 youths were reportedly abducted by the Myanmar military and local administrative authorities for forced recruitment in Mawlamyinegyun Township, Ayeyarwady Region, and Aunglan Township, Magway Region, according to local sources.

In Mawlamyinegyun Township’s Nunkywan Village Tract, local administrators—Zaw Lin Maung, Myint Zaw, Thar Myo Min Tun, and Kyaw Toe—worked with the military to detain 10 young men for the army’s “Recruitment Week 8” campaign. Residents reported that the authorities used coercive methods to enforce recruitment.

“They claimed it was for ‘Recruitment Week 8’ and collaborated with the military to detain the youths. A total of 10 young men have been forcibly taken,” said a local resident.

Additionally, at 6 a.m. on November 19, seven youths traveling on a passenger bus were forcibly removed near Min Kan Village between Aunglan and Pyay Townships in Magway Region. The operation was reportedly led by the head of the Aunglan District General Administration Department.
