Junta Forces Bombard Minthtaw with Over 200 Bombs, Including Cluster Bombs, for Two Consecutive Days

In Minthtaw, Chin State, the junta forces carried out consecutive airstrikes for two days, bombing the city with over 200 bombs, including cluster bombs. The attacks resulted in fires at Taungpulu Monastery and Khlayara 274 Battalion, according to a report from the Minthtaw Township People’s Administrative Committee.

On November 22, 2024, the junta launched 26 airstrikes with jet fighters, dropping over 60 bombs, including cluster bombs, on Minthtaw. Additionally, two strikes were carried out by Y-12 aircraft, dropping over 100 bombs. These bombing raids continued into the night.

“The use of cluster bombs in Minthtaw is not a new occurrence. Even in the past week and the days before, cluster bombs were dropped repeatedly. On November 22, 2024, from around 2:00 AM, fighter jets began bombing, with a total of 26 strikes. The Y-12 aircraft carried out two more bombings, each dropping around 80 bombs. The Y-12 raids alone involved over 100 bombs, while the jet fighter bombings dropped around 60 bombs each. Cluster bombs were also included in these raids. The cluster bombs dropped on November 22 were different from those dropped on previous days,” said Ko Yawman, the spokesperson for Minthtaw Township People’s Administrative Committee.
