An elderly woman, Daw Tin Paing, aged 75, was killed, and 14 homes were torched during a military raid on Kyaukpone Village, located near the border between Pwintphyu and Sedoktara townships in Magway Region, according to a local military source from Battalion 4, Minbu District.
The attack occurred on the morning of November 28, when over 200 junta forces, along with Pyu Saw Htee militia, invaded Kyaukpone, Khepye, and Nyaunggone villages, armed with heavy and small weapons. Despite resistance from local defense forces, including Battalion 4 and the Pwintphyu PDF, the junta troops successfully entered Kyaukpone Village.
Reports indicate that junta soldiers shot and killed Daw Tin Paing, looted properties, and destroyed belongings in the village. They also killed a cow and set fire to three homes in Nyaunggone Village and 11 homes in Kyaukpone Village.
“The body of Daw Tin Paing, who was killed by the junta in the village, was retrieved by residents and laid to rest with the assistance of local monks. The village also needed to clear landmines left behind by the military, extinguish fires, and provide emergency aid to detained residents,” said the Minbu PDF spokesperson.
