Military Shooting of Young Man in Siphu Township Leads to Death, Forced to Serve in the Military

December 23, 2024 In Siphu Township, a shooting incident occurred at a tea shop in the Zeya Kwetsar Quarter on December 20. Military forces, during an arrest operation, opened fire on fleeing youths. Among them, 32-year-old Ko Myo Min Thu, who had previously been forcibly recruited into the military, was fatally shot. Around 4:00 PM on December 20, the military forces raided a tea shop in Siphu, and during the operation, several young people attempted to flee. The military then pursued and shot at them. Two gunshots hit Ko Myo Min Thu, who was a resident of Zeya Kwetsar Quarter, resulting in his death. According to local residents, “The military raided the tea shop in Siphu on the 20th, and when young people tried to flee, they were shot. Ko Myo Min Thu, aged 32, was struck by two bullets and died shortly afterward. He had been forced to serve in the military prior to the incident.”
