A Myanmar issues forum was jointly organized by the National Unity Government (NUG), the Myanmar Embassy in Japan, and the Parliamentary Group of Japanese MPs. The event was attended by Japanese government officials and members of the Japanese parliament.
On February 3, the forum took place at the Japanese parliament building, where discussions centered on the failed military coup in Myanmar, its aftermath, the ongoing military takeover, subsequent conflicts, and the challenges faced by the people. The forum aimed to present Myanmar’s current situation clearly to the Japanese government officials, parliamentarians, international diplomats, and media outlets. The event also served to promote support for Myanmar’s democratic movement.
During the forum, a petition, previously signed by members of both the upper and lower houses of the Japanese parliament, was presented. The attendees expressed unified support for Myanmar’s struggle and pledged to continue advocating for Myanmar’s democratic cause through Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The forum was attended by key representatives, including Na Sū San Nalh Lal Soe, the Union Minister for Women, Youth, and Child Affairs of the National Unity Government, and advisor to the ministry, Daw Shwe Shwe Sein Latt. They presented and discussed art pieces by children displaced by the military, as well as photographs highlighting the true conditions in Myanmar, aiming to enhance understanding of the current situation.
Many members of the Japanese parliament, along with university professors, NGO/NPO officials, ILO representatives, diplomats from international embassies, media members, and more than 200 attendees, including Japanese citizens involved in Myanmar’s cause, participated in the event.
