Military Attacks on Civilian Areas in Sittwe and Loikaw, Leading to Destruction of Homes and Monasteries

The Myanmar military launched artillery attacks in Sittwe Township, Rakhine State, resulting in the destruction of civilian homes, according to reports from Arakan Princess Media.

On February 15, between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, artillery was fired from a military base in Zawmadat village, Sittwe Township. The shells struck Minhla village, destroying seven houses. It is reported that 13 rounds of artillery were fired by the military, targeting civilian areas without any active clashes in the region.

Similarly, on February 16 at approximately 8:50 AM, in Loikaw Township, Karenni State, the military shelled Nam Naukk village with artillery, leading to the destruction of a local monastery. The attack occurred without any prior confrontation or battle in the area.

Reports indicate that these acts of aggression were deliberate attacks on civilian-populated areas, causing significant damage to property and places of worship.
