Fundraising Event in New York with Ko Htein Lin Raises Over $52,000

A fundraising event in New York City featuring Ko Htein Lin, the son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, has raised more than $52,000. The event was part of the “Suu 80th Birthday Campaign” and brought together Myanmar families from across the United States to support humanitarian efforts.

Held on March 15, the gathering included prominent attendees such as Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, U Kyaw Moe Tun; Minister for Women, Youth, and Children Affairs, Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe; and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s economic advisor, Sean Turnell. Ko Htein Lin engaged with the Myanmar community, highlighting ongoing efforts to support the Spring Revolution.

Around 1,000 people attended the event, including Myanmar families from nearby cities and members of Spring Revolution support groups. Fundraising activities included the auction of a portrait of Ko Htein Lin for $8,888, a “Suu 80th Birthday Calendar” for $5,500, and the sale of “Suu 80th Birthday Postcards.” The proceeds will be directed toward humanitarian assistance.
