Four people, including two People’s Defense Force (PDF) fighters, a teacher, and a 13-year-old child, were killed in a deliberate attack by the military in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, despite the absence of any active clashes, according to a spokesperson for the local PDF unit.
On March 31, at around 2:40 PM, the military’s Light Infantry Battalion 24, based in Pakokku Township, fired four rounds of 81mm artillery, striking Palaung Village. One of the shells fatally wounded 13-year-old Ma Aikaryi, who was hit in the abdomen, local sources confirmed.
Similarly, on March 30, the same battalion used sniper fire to target and kill two PDF fighters and a teacher in the township.
Despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by the March 28 earthquake, the military continues to launch attacks against civilians. The PDF spokesperson condemned these assaults as inhumane and deliberate acts of violence.
