At least 10 civilians were killed when the Myanmar military carried out an airstrike on Ywarthaukone village in Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, without any ground engagement, according to Ko Ngalay, a spokesperson for the Wetlet Informational Network.
The airstrike occurred around 4:30 p.m. on May 10, when a fighter jet from the Meiktila Air Base dropped bombs twice on the village located in the western part of Wetlet Township.
The aerial attack, carried out without any prior battle or warning, left over 10 civilians dead and at least eight others injured. Among the wounded, several were reported to be in critical condition.
“The military bombed Ywarthaukone village without any clashes taking place. From what we’ve learned, more than 10 civilians were killed and eight others were injured. Some of the injured are in serious condition,” said Ko Ngalay.
Separately, early this morning, a military aircraft also dropped a 500-pound bomb on the school compound of Shwe Pann Kone village, further escalating concerns of deliberate attacks on civilian areas.
