A military unit from Battalion 33, comprising over 100 personnel, attacked Wekalet Village in Sagaing Region, resulting in the deaths of five civilians, including an elderly woman, and the destruction of approximately 500 homes. Local sources report that the assault began at 2:30 AM on April 7, when the military commenced shelling the village from the direction of Nyangon. By 4:00 AM, the entire village was engulfed in flames, with around 500 out of 600 homes destroyed. Among the deceased were three women and two men, including an elderly woman. Additionally, numerous livestock were lost in the fire, including 37 goats, 29 cows, and 16 pigs.
