Military Shooting in Mandalay Leaves Two Youth Dead and One Arrested

Apr 8 , 2022.

This morning in Mandalay, the military shot and killed two young individuals and arrested another youth, as reported by local resistance groups. The incident occurred at approximately 8:03 AM on April 8, near the neighborhood office between 35th Street and 59/60th Street in Maha Aung Myay Township, where the military was involved in a shooting. According to a local resident, “The military claims they shot them because of a homemade bomb, but we hear from people in the vicinity that they came to the neighborhood office. They were just passing by. They say they found homemade bombs in the bag, but that seems to be a setup by the military. It seems they designed the narrative to justify the shooting.” The military junta’s propaganda also alleges through social media channels, including Telegram, that the two youths were shot while attempting to launch a homemade bomb at the military.
