PDF Rescues Seven Starving Villagers from Tatheetaung, Shwebo Township

Seven civilians who fled starvation in Tatheetaung Pyu Saw Htee Village, Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, have been rescued and are being cared for by PDF forces, according to an official from the Bo Kyarr Rain People’s Defense Force.

On February 8 and 9, the following individuals managed to escape the village: 67-year-old U Kywe Zun, 72-year-old Daw Wine, 67-year-old U Win, 42-year-old Ko Nain Nain, 38-year-old Ko Hla Min, 82-year-old Daw Nwe, and 90-year-old Daw Tin Ei.

The group reportedly endured nearly 20 days of extreme hunger, surviving only on boiled beans, before deciding to flee. Reports indicate that even the armed Pyu Saw Htee members in the village are facing severe food shortages.

In response, the PDF has announced that it will facilitate further evacuations for villagers who wish to escape. Additionally, armed Pyu Saw Htee members who choose to surrender will be provided assistance, and those who turn in their weapons will receive financial rewards, according to the PDF official.
