military jet from the junta’s air force dropped a 500-pound bomb on a clinic in Thitseik village, located in the eastern part of Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, on the afternoon of April 16, reportedly killing four civilians including a five-year-old child, according to a local resistance official.
The bombing occurred at around 1:40 p.m. on Thingyan A-tet Day (the day after the Myanmar New Year), when a fighter jet targeted the village’s clinic and released the bomb. The blast hit residential homes behind the clinic, causing civilian casualties and damage to at least two houses.
“The bomb didn’t fall directly on the clinic, but on the houses just behind it. Among those killed was a five-year-old boy,” said a spokesperson from a local People’s Defense Force unit.
The attack took place despite the cultural and religious significance of the New Year period in Myanmar, when people typically refrain from violence. Local sources condemned the strike as an act of terror against civilians in a non-combat zone.
