In Saung Dula Village, Dimawso Township, Karenni State, the 102nd battalion of the military junta reportedly launched an artillery attack on June 10 around 9 PM, resulting in the death of one civilian and injuries to three others, according to a statement from Dimawso PDF.
The attack occurred without any preceding conflict, causing significant damage to one house and leading to the death of a 54-year-old man named U Kori. Two teenage girls and a five-year-old child were also reported injured. Many internally displaced persons seeking refuge in the western part of Dimawso Township were affected when the military’s 102nd battalion targeted the village with heavy artillery while residents were resting at night, forcing them to flee once again, according to Dimawso PDF. Due to the indiscriminate shelling and airstrikes by the military junta, 108 civilians have lost their lives in the Dimawso Township alone, and around 200,000 internally displaced persons are currently in Karenni State. In a previous incident in March, the military junta had also dropped two large bombs from aircraft onto Saung Dula Village, causing significant destruction.
