Military Burns Down Dhammathara Village in Mying, Residents Flee; 13 People Arrested in Two Villages in Tanhsil

In the morning of July 24, 2022, residents reported to the Yangon Times Media that the military launched an attack on Dhammathara village in Mying township, burning down homes and causing the entire village to flee. The military had entered and occupied the village around 4:30 AM on July 23, 2022, and began setting fire to it the following morning.

“The military entered Dhammathara village around 4 PM yesterday and has been stationed there. This morning, they are burning down the village, and it’s reported that about seven civilian homes have been caught in the flames, but we cannot confirm this yet,” said a local resident.

Similarly, in Tanhsil township of Sagaing Region, local residents reported that the military had invaded Ngatan and Shwehlan villages on July 24, 2022, and arrested 13 villagers from Ngatan.

“The military is currently occupying Ngatan and Shwehlan villages this morning. According to the latest news, 13 villagers from Ngatan have been arrested. We still do not know the details of the situation inside the villages,” a local resident stated.
