Military Executes 13 Civilians, Including One Woman, and Burns Down Konekhartun and Yehtartun Villages in Maulike

In Maulike Township, Sagaing Region, the military has reportedly executed 13 civilians, including one woman who was subjected to repeated acts of violence, according to local residents.

Troops from the military’s Light Infantry Battalions 363 and 366, along with local militia, set fire to Konekhartun and Yehtartun villages on August 21, destroying property and looting valuable goods. Additionally, 19 residents from Konewahyon village were captured, with reports indicating that the woman was killed after being repeatedly assaulted.

A local resident recounted, “On the 21st, soldiers from the Konekhartun and Yehtartun villages were set ablaze by the armed forces, and 19 residents from Konewahyon village were taken away, with four shot dead in Heikazet village and nine in Kingtat village. Six were released afterward.”

Among the 13 victims, the woman was murdered after being subjected to violence by the armed forces and local militias, believed to be from Kingtat village.

The military and militias set fire to Yehtartun village, loading valuable items onto three boats and reportedly selling them afterward, according to additional testimonies from locals.

“They took valuable items to Maulike aboard three boats. Some of the looted items are being sold again by a few individuals, while others are sharing the profits,” a local resident stated.
