Over 3,000 Displaced as Military Forces Enter Villages in Myawaddy Township; 13 Arrested

Military incursions by the junta into villages in Myawaddy Township, Sagaing Region, have forced over 3,000 residents to flee to safety at night, according to the local People’s Defense and Security Force. The military commenced operations by entering Nabut village around 11 PM on September 3, and by the evening of September 4, they had reached Bugoin village, with approximately 1,300 people from Bugoin, Sayarwa, Kaungkhwa, Sinmin, Melmato, Thangyi, and Nabut villages fleeing under the cover of darkness.

On the evening of September 4, 15 males from Myaitha and Ngaryan villages were also reportedly arrested and taken away to serve as porters for the military in their incursions into nearby villages. A spokesperson from the People’s Defense and Security Force stated, “There are over 3,000 displaced individuals. The military is advancing from both the southern and northwestern regions, and they have been conducting night raids in the villages. Previously, these operations only occurred during the day, but now they are also happening at night, causing nearby villagers to flee at night. Currently, the military has reached Bugoin village.”
