Military Raid on Tharyatchaung and Thapyay Villages in Kanbalu Township Leaves 3 Dead, 72 Homes Torched

Three civilians were killed, and 72 homes were burned down as the military launched an assault on Tharyatchaung and Thapyay villages in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, according to a spokesperson from the Kyonhla Activists Group. The attack, which took place on the morning of July 25, involved targeted artillery shelling and two drone strikes, resulting in the deaths of two civilians in Tharyatchaung and one in Thapyay, while several others were injured. The military also set fire to 72 homes in Tharyatchaung, reports said.

“There was no battle, they attacked without provocation. The number of displaced people from nearby villages is high, but we don’t have an exact figure yet. The situation is ongoing as the military continues its offensive,” said the spokesperson from the Kyonhla Activists Group.
