Military Attacks on Villages in Ledo, Kyauk Tan, and Thilain: 2 Women Killed, Homes and School Destroyed by Airstrikes, Drones, and Heavy Artillery

In a series of violent attacks, Myanmar’s military launched airstrikes, drone attacks, and heavy artillery fire on villages in Ledo and Kyauk Tan townships, resulting in the deaths of two women, and causing the destruction of a school and several homes, according to the central command of the Karen National Union (KNU).

The KNU reported that at 11:15 AM on September 8, the military’s Light Infantry Battalion 264 (LIB-264) targeted civilians in Ledo Township, firing two 120mm artillery shells directly at Lain Pin We village. One school was damaged during the attack. At 11:52 AM, the military fired two more artillery shells, wounding 62-year-old U Soe Than and destroying his home.

Meanwhile, in Inkon village of Kyauk Tan Township, the military’s LIB-307 (Shwe War battalion) carried out drone bombings followed by heavy artillery attacks, killing 35-year-old Ma Thin Thin Khaing. On September 7, at 5:30 PM, military jets bombed the eastern part of Thilain Township in Magway Region, killing one woman. Local sources also confirmed that a bomb dropped near Maekle village exploded, fatally wounding a woman bathing in a stream.
