In Budalin Township, Sagaing Region, military forces that brutally killed 21 civilians have withdrawn from Budalin city, taking with them over 40 hostages, according to Ko Mo Thaw, the village administrator of Sipar village.
Reports indicate that at around 3 PM today, October 23, soldiers from the military junta forcibly took over 40 hostages from Sai Pin Lay village and brought them back to Budalin city.
The military operation began on October 11, when the junta forces entered Budalin city and executed six family members, including children. On October 12, they attacked Myauk Kyi village and killed seven civilians. On October 18 and 19, they invaded Sipar and Saw villages, leading to the death of eight more civilians, bringing the total number of civilians killed to 21.
Additionally, since the day the junta forces entered from the Northern Military Command, they have captured over 40 civilians along the roads leading to their base. Reports also indicate that more than 500 homes in Kyauk Oh, Sipar, Kwe Tha Chaung, Saw, and Sai Pin Lay villages have been set on fire, and civilian properties within these villages are being looted.
