Junta Forces Launch Two Fronts in Launglon, Civilians Arrested and Fleeing for Safety

November 7, 2024 – In Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region, junta forces have launched two fronts of military operations, advancing into villages and arresting civilians while others flee for safety, according to a spokesperson from the Launglon People’s Defense Force, Ye Bo She Doe.

Since November 7, 2024, junta forces, numbering over 100 personnel, have initiated military operations in the areas of Maungma Kan and Kyaung Nimo villages. The forces are reportedly moving through these villages as part of a larger military advance. The local population has been subjected to arbitrary arrests, with some civilians being used as human shields while the military progresses along the roads.

It has been reported that civilians from seven villages in the area are currently fleeing for their safety, as the military continues to impose its control. While there have been no reports of direct combat or casualties, the situation remains tense, and the number of civilians detained is yet to be confirmed.

“There are two military fronts in Launglon. One is at Maungma Kan and the other at Kyaung Nimo. Both areas have over 100 troops, but so far, there have been no reports of fighting or fatalities. However, some civilians have been arrested. About seven villages are now in hiding, but we have no confirmed numbers of those arrested,” said the Launglon People’s Defense Force spokesperson.
