Military Attack in Letpadan Township Injures Six Civilians and Detains One

In Letpadan Township, Bago Region, heavy artillery and drone attacks by the military resulted in injuries to six civilians and the detention of one individual, according to the KNU Central Committee. The attacks, carried out between November 20 and 26, also caused significant destruction to civilian infrastructure.

Over the six-day period, the military fired 18 artillery shells and conducted 20 drone strikes on villages in Letpadan Township. These assaults resulted in the destruction of three houses, one rice mill, two medical clinics, and two community buildings. Additionally, one civilian was arbitrarily detained by military personnel.

On November 20, the military’s Battalion 264, based in Painzalote, targeted Chaing Chaung Bridge in Yetwin Kone village and Ale Kyun village with 120mm artillery. Four drone strikes were also launched, hitting Kanyin Gyoe and Chaung Kone villages. Furthermore, military troops stationed in Sint O Lwa targeted Nanzae village with seven drone strikes. These attacks left Daw Khin San Win, a 55-year-old resident of Kanyin Gyoe village, injured, and destroyed a house in the area.

Similarly, on November 20, troops stationed in Thutae Kone fired four 81mm artillery shells at Grouk Kone village, injuring U Kyaw Min Thu, aged 66. On the same day, a civilian named Ma Zani Win from Ale Kyun village was detained without cause near the entrance checkpoint of Painzalote.

Between November 21 and 24, additional shelling targeted several villages, including Kyun Kone, Wa Cha, and Grouk Kone. These strikes resulted in further injuries and significant property damage. Drone and artillery attacks continued in nearby villages such as Lain Pin, Noh Pho, and Kyaik Taka, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.

The ongoing attacks have left the local population in a state of fear and displacement, with residents struggling to rebuild amidst continued military aggression.
