Fighting Erupts in Madaya, Thabeikkyin, and Naungcho; Two Children Killed in Artillery Attack on Monastery

Clashes have erupted in Madaya Township, Thabeikkyin Township, and Naungcho Township, with reports indicating that the military launched an artillery attack on a monastery in Htantawgone Village, Madaya Township, resulting in the deaths of two children, according to Mandalay PDF spokesperson Ko Osman.

It is reported that intense fighting is ongoing between the People’s Defence Force (Mandalay) and the military regime forces in Madaya, Thabeikkyin, and Naungcho Townships.

At around 3:20 PM on December 26, the military reportedly fired artillery shells at the monastery in Htantawgone Village, Madaya Township. The attack resulted in the deaths of two children and left three civilians injured.
