Villages in Myinchan and Taungtha Bombed by Military, Resulting in Two Civilian Deaths and Damage to a School

The military junta conducted airstrikes on Nyaungkon Village in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, resulting in the deaths of two civilians, according to a member of the Taungtha Township Public Strike Committee.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on January 18, two military aircraft flew from Meiktila and dropped bombs near the monastery road and civilian houses in Nyaungkon Village. The attack claimed the lives of two residents, Daw Khin Than, 78, and Daw Khin Nyut, 57. Additionally, one civilian sustained injuries, while three cows, one sheep, and one pig were killed.

Later, at around 2 p.m. on the same day, a fighter jet from Meiktila dropped two bombs on Ywarthit Village in Myinchan Township. The bombing destroyed the local school, causing further distress in the community.

The attacks highlight the ongoing use of airstrikes by the military, inflicting significant casualties and damage on civilian areas.
