The Myanmar military launched attacks on villages in Kyaikto and Thaton Townships, Mon State, using drones and heavy artillery, resulting in the death of one civilian and injuries to five others. Several homes were also destroyed, according to a statement by the KNU Central Committee.
On January 21, at around 7:00 PM, troops from the military’s 602nd Battalion fired three artillery shells into villages in Nga Pyaw Taw Village Tract. The shells landed in Nga Pyaw Taw Auk Village, killing Daw Aye Cho, who was struck in the abdomen, and injuring three others: 15-year-olds Ma Yunnadi Oo and Ma Lailai Khine, and 60-year-old Daw Khin Nyunt. Three houses and a car were also damaged in the attack.
Similarly, on January 23, at approximately 3:30 PM, the military dropped two bombs using drones on Thone Khu Village in Kyaikto Township. One bomb exploded near an old car workshop, while the other detonated on the workshop roof, damaging structures. Two villagers, including U Saw Aye Soe, sustained head injuries from shrapnel.
