Two civilians were killed and eight others injured when the Myanmar military and the Pa-O National Army (PNA) launched an artillery attack on Lwenwe village and a displacement camp hill in Naung Shwe Township, Shan State, according to a spokesperson from the Inle Region Human Rights Group.

The attack occurred at approximately 7:13 AM on February 5, when the military and PNA forces fired heavy artillery from Thitpinkauk, west of Phekhon, targeting Lwenwe village in the Inle region. As a result, a 74-year-old resident, U Pyar, was killed on the spot, while 27-year-old Ma Mae Thu Swe and 48-year-old Ma Mee Pon sustained injuries.

Later, at around 8:40 AM, the military and PNA forces carried out another deliberate shelling on the displacement camp hill in the same area. A 44-year-old displaced civilian, Ko Phoe Wa from Mon Pyar village in Loikaw Township, was killed in the attack. Additionally, U Kyaw, a 57-year-old displaced civilian from Phekhon Township, sustained severe injuries. Four others—Daw Nge Thee, Kyaw Swar Win, Ko Thar Pu, and Ko Lwan Moe—were also wounded.

Local sources report that the ongoing artillery attacks have caused widespread fear among civilians, with many forced to flee their homes to seek safety. The humanitarian situation in the region remains dire as displacement continues to increase due to escalating violence.
