A civilian woman was shot dead and three others were seriously injured after a passenger vehicle was fired upon by junta forces and Pyusawhti militia near Banbwe Pyusawhti Village in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, according to local sources.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on June 5 near the northern descent of Laenyin Hill along the Monywa-Yargyi-Kalay road. Junta soldiers and allied Pyusawhti members opened fire on the vehicle as it was traveling past the area, residents said.
“The vehicle was returning to Kani Township after passing multiple junta checkpoints in Monywa. It was a regular line vehicle operating between Pahe, Kin, and Monywa. A female passenger died on the spot. Two other women suffered severe abdominal injuries, and their condition is critical. The driver, a man, was also injured after a bullet pierced the vehicle’s door and struck his leg. Fortunately, he managed to drive away and escape capture,” a local resident recounted.
