The brutal military junta invaded Kone Tan village in Ye U Township, Sagaing Region, on July 24 around 7 PM, reportedly setting fire to over 20 homes belonging to civilians, according to local residents.
In addition to burning civilian homes, the military also destroyed crops within the village and killed livestock, including cattle and buffalo. They fired heavy weapons at Kone Gyi village, located about a mile away, resulting in one civilian home being hit and injuring three villagers.
“Around 7 PM, the military entered Kone Tan village from the south, where there is a monastery with only about 100 homes. They set fire to the houses, and smoke billowed up from all directions, leading the villagers watching from afar to think the whole village was on fire. It rained, so we thought it was just smoke. But in total, over 20 homes were burned down,” said a local resident.
Before reaching Kone Tan village, the military reportedly engaged in a clash with local defense forces around 4 PM, during which they set fire to civilian homes and property.
