In Mu Kan Gyi village, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region, the military junta reportedly set fire to homes on August 8 and 9, causing widespread destruction, although local residents have not yet confirmed the extent of the damages. The military targeted approximately 4,000 homes in the village over two consecutive days, looting and vandalizing personal belongings in the process.

After burning the civilian houses, the junta left threats written on the walls of the destroyed homes and along the roads, aimed at the People’s Defense Force (PDF). It has been reported that the military unit in Mu Kan Gyi village withdrew on August 10 and is currently advancing towards the brick-making and other culturally significant areas, according to a statement from the Depayin Township People’s Administration.
