In Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region, local residents reported that the military had arrested and executed 47-year-old Daw Thein Htay, with her body subsequently discarded. On October 2, around 11 AM, it was reported that the military shot and wounded Pyu Saw Htee member Myat Htun six times while he was in detention. He is currently being treated at Mandalay Hospital, and following this shooting incident, the military escalated their operations, leading to further arrests and killings of civilians.
On October 3, around 12 AM, military vehicles arrived at Daw Thein Htay’s home in Tan Taar U village and abducted her. It is reported that they tortured her and later informed her family on October 4 to collect her body, which showed extensive signs of torture.
A local resident stated, ‘After the shooting of the detainee Myat Htun, the military arrived at the home of 47-year-old Daw Thein Htay in Tan Taar U village, where they arrested and executed her. They came with three military vehicles. On October 4, we were informed to come and collect her body, which was found with multiple signs of torture and was lifeless. The villagers cannot understand why they are arresting and torturing her. Daw Thein Htay and her family lived honestly and peacefully, leaving behind children and a surviving husband. Her funeral took place today, October 5.’
Residents reported that the brutal military, Pyu Saw Htee members, and bloodsucker groups have been targeting NLD party members, women, and PDF supporters in Nyang U, Nyaung Lay Pin, and South Dagon Township in Yangon Region. It is estimated that at least 12 people have been killed from September 29 to today.
