In the Tanshii township of Sagaing Region, four homes in Thapyayrin village have been reported destroyed by arson carried out by the military.

On the evening of October 18, soldiers and police from Battalion 33 under the notorious Light Infantry Division 368 set fire to four civilian-owned homes in Thapyayrin village, just as they were preparing to leave the area the following morning.

The military’s arson attacks also led to the burning of civilian cattle sheds, resulting in the slaughter of a cow raised by local residents for consumption.

A local resident commented, “The military spent the night in Thapyayrin the day before and decided to burn down houses today as they wanted to clear a path for themselves. They’ve already entered the Kankalaykon village, causing further disturbances.”
