November 29, 2022

Residents reported that the military burned down three villages in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, in a single day. On November 29, around 10 a.m., the military targeted the Boakone neighborhood in Nyangpinda village and Kyi Kan village with arson attacks. Approximately two hours later, they set fire to Kanthakone village as well.

The military moved from village to village, igniting fires, while local residents managed to extinguish some flames as the troops retreated. However, fearing the return of military forces, they left the villages without confirming the extent of the damages.

A Shwebo District official stated, “Residents claim the military accused them of supporting the PDF. The specific details of the destruction and losses remain unclear.”
