On December 13, it was reported that the military conducted extensive arson attacks on Paichong village in Tanhsah township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the destruction of 97 homes. Local residents reported that the military set fire to nearly the entire village. On December 13, the military units 33, 361, and 369 destroyed a total of 97 structures, including 43 homes, 20 cattle sheds, 28 kitchens, and 6 rice barns. A displaced resident from Paichong stated, “There have been two instances of arson. The first time, five homes burned down, and this time, almost the entire village has been set ablaze. There are only a few homes left out of about 140 in total. After burning Paichong, they are now targeting Tancone.”
It is reported that the military, comprising around 250 troops, set fire to Tancone village after destroying Paichong. Additionally, on the morning of December 13, they began firing heavy weapons at Tancone village. On December 4 and 5, the military also attacked neighboring villages, burning a total of 139 homes across Khaunggyi, Khamhpyu, Wekto, and Puthit villages.
