Military Destroys 1,630 Homes in 17 Villages in Ye-U Township, Urgent Aid Needed

The military has burned down 1,630 homes across 17 villages in Ye-U Township, Sagaing Region, from December 10 to 19, leaving residents displaced and in urgent need of food and clothing. A representative from the People’s Defense Comrades reported that the affected villagers require immediate assistance. The villages affected by the military’s arson include 17 houses in Pyitdakat, 90 in Pauktha, 34 in Zainzun East, 35 in Zainzun West, 155 in Motsu, 410 in Yaumitha, 59 in Chanthar/Khristyan, 50 in Oehthekwet, 16 in Htantokone, 209 in Konehta, 150 in Yawthit, 31 in Thangpin, 67 in Zaw, 38 in Wakpho, 51 in Taungkone, 29 in Chaungson, 41 in Ngatpyaw Taw, 35 in Kwan-Ohn, 75 in Makyekone, and 38 in Nyawpin Taw, totaling 1,630 homes. “Most of these 17 villages that have been burned down are almost completely destroyed, with some villages suffering from arson two or three times. For example, Chanthar village has been burned for the third time, including newly rebuilt homes. Currently, some neighboring villages are bringing food supplies to help, but there is an urgent need for rice, oil, warm clothes, and other food supplies,” said a representative from the People’s Defense Comrades. The military units, including the Moloik-based Khamar 364 and the Mawbi-based Khala 701, carried out these arsons after burning 19 villages in the eastern part of Depayin Township. Reports indicate that the military also beheaded a resident from Chanthar village and killed an elderly woman from Zaw village during these attacks.
