On December 28, in the Ye Phyu district of Tanintharyi Region, a military vehicle reportedly ran over a civilian named Ma Pan Ei Phyu while responding to a landmine explosion, according to local residents. Around 6 AM on the same day, approximately 14 military vehicles were near the Nyaung Htaw village when the explosion occurred, and subsequently, a military vehicle collided with Ma Pan Ei Phyu, resulting in a fatal head injury.
“There were about five landmines that exploded, followed by gunfire,” one local stated. Ma Pan Ei Phyu, a 20-year-old from Zee Kya village, succumbed to head injuries caused by the vehicle. It is reported that she was delivering fish to the Nyaung Htaw village when the military attacked her.
“The motorcycle she was riding was completely destroyed. There was nothing left of her head. Other travelers said someone had died, and when we went to check, it was her,” another local resident commented.
It was revealed that Ma Pan Ei Phyu, who is orphaned, was being looked after by relatives. Her body was found this morning in Nyaung Htaw village.
In related incidents, local residents reported that seven civilians from Gangaw and Nat Maung were also executed by the military. In Mandalay Region, in the Yae Sin village of Gangaw Township, the military violently stormed the area, capturing and executing six locals while disposing of their bodies.
On the evening of December 26, the military reportedly entered Yae Sin village, arresting seven civilians, executing six, and transporting their bodies away to hide the evidence. The six victims from Yae Sin village were identified as Ko Kyaw Tin, Ko Sein Aung, Ko Myo Naing, Ko Thukha, Ko Naing Win Swe, and Ko Sein Maung Myint.
“Seven civilians from Gangaw’s Yae Sin village were captured and six were executed. One escaped with serious injuries. The military took the bodies away and disposed of them. Currently, around 50 soldiers are stationed at the Sakyin village school,” a local resident reported.
Additionally, in Magway Region, locals reported that a military assault on Thanpin Myo village resulted in the shooting of a villager named U Zaw Win.
At around 1 PM on December 28, the military entered Thanpin Myo village, firing eight rounds as they advanced into the village, fatally shooting U Zaw Win and wounding around five other villagers, who were then apprehended and beaten as they attempted to flee towards Kan Thar village.
“When the military stormed in and opened fire, villagers rushed to escape, and U Zaw Win was shot in the head and died. About five villagers were also captured and beaten. It was said that the attack on U Zaw Win happened today. His family members haven’t even seen his body,” a local said.
After shooting U Zaw Win, the military released some young people they had captured, while also threatening villagers not to flee when they entered the village, warning that those who attempted to escape would be shot.
