An airstrike by the Myanmar military on Kwan Ohn Monastery in Nwahtoegyi Township, Mandalay Region, has resulted in the deaths of three civilians and numerous injuries, despite no active fighting in the area, local residents reported. The air raid occurred in the early afternoon of August 20, targeting the monastery, where no clashes had taken place.

Among the injured was a monk, and several displaced civilians sheltering at the monastery were affected. “Today, in the afternoon, the military dropped bombs on Kwan Ohn village even though no fighting was happening. Civilians were running for safety. From what we’ve initially gathered, five villagers and a monk were injured, and three civilians have died. Many others are injured, and we are still investigating the exact number,” a local resident said.
