Military Arson in Kan Ni Village Leaves Over 10 Homes Destroyed and One Civilian Arrested; Residents from Three Villages Flee for Safety

In the Kan Ni village of Ohn Pho Township, Bago Region, military forces have set fire to and destroyed over ten homes, arresting one civilian in the process, according to Police Major Du Ya, the spokesperson for the 3802 Battalion in the Tha Ya Wa Di district.

On the morning of October 23, approximately 30 soldiers from the military junta, retreating from the nearby Kyaung Pin Kauk Township and Ohn Pho Township, reportedly set up numerous landmines in the vicinity of the Gamone Dam. Later that day, around 3:06 PM, a military unit of about 60 troops entered Kan Ni village and set fire to more than ten civilian-owned homes located at the Bo Bin site.

The military also arrested six women from Kan Ni village, releasing five of them in the evening of October 23 while retaining one. Currently, residents from Sin Ta Kone, Kan Ni, and Tan Ngah Kone villages continue to flee for safety.
