Four people, including a 12-year-old child, have been killed and eight others injured following a heavy weapon attack on Sakyin village in Mataya Township, Mandalay Region, by the military junta, according to local sources on December 13.
The attack, which occurred on December 8 and 11, is reported to have involved artillery fire from the military positioned near the city of Mataya and surrounding areas. The military has been regularly shelling villages, and these latest incidents resulted in the deaths of civilians. A local resident confirmed that on December 11, three people were killed in the northern part of Sakyin, and one person was killed on December 8.
The deceased include 12-year-old Mayun Theiri Kyo, 34-year-old Ko Zeya Maung, 30-year-old Ma Aye Aye San, and 41-year-old Ko Aung Thu Thet. The eight injured victims are receiving medical treatment, sources reported.
