A young pregnant woman was injured when Myanmar military forces fired heavy artillery in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, local residents said.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. today, June 15, shells fired by junta troops stationed at Tatmakone military outpost exploded in Swat Ngai Yan village. A 23-year-old woman, Daw Baw Sai Nan, who is five months pregnant, was hit by shrapnel and has since been transported to Hpakant Hospital, residents reported.

“The public hospital in Hpakant is severely lacking in medical supplies,” one local resident said.

In addition, residents said that military-led arson attacks continue to occur near Suat Aung village, where jade mining operations by the Neman Kanbaw Company are located. These arson incidents are being deliberately carried out under junta orders, causing fear and anxiety among civilians.

According to local sources, fires were set during the evening and night of June 14, forcing residents to flee in fear.
