Army Shelling of Aisant Village in Loikaw Township Kills Two Children, Severs Arm of Four-Month-Old

According to a spokesperson for the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF), the attack was carried out by the military junta on January 9. The KNDF spokesperson reported that the shelling originated from the 530th Light Infantry Battalion based in Loilin Lay. Artillery shells struck Aing San village, killing two children aged 12 and injuring four others, including a four-month-old baby who lost a hand in the explosion. The attack occurred following a successful takeover of a junta outpost in Shwe Taik Gu village, Demoso Township, by resistance forces. The military responded by targeting civilian areas with heavy artillery, resulting in the casualties. Reports confirm that two children under 12 were killed, and the baby sustained the devastating injury in the assault.
