In Kyondoe, Karen State, military informants have been continuously launching airstrikes and shelling with heavy artillery on villages, causing hundreds of people to flee, according to local residents.
Within the villages of Kyondoe, military supporters, including members of the Kuangfut Party and monks, have been reporting on the movements of the KNLA’s allied troops to prevent them from establishing bases and avoiding attacks on military camps. This has led to ongoing aerial and artillery strikes by the military, causing widespread displacement among civilians.
It has been confirmed that the reports to the military are being made by party members and monks from villages such as Kan Ni, Kawale, Kohtine, and Yangkot. These reports have resulted in the military launching airstrikes and artillery bombardments.
One local resident shared, “The bombings with heavy artillery on our village are being coordinated by military supporters, including monks and party members. They inform the military about the arrival of PDF/KNU forces, and in response, the military carries out bombings. This situation is similar to previous years, where informants led to more attacks on the villages.”
